Music skips after updating to iOS 10

My iPhone7 ITunes skips to next track in shuffle mode while I’m running or working weights. This follows upgrade to IOS 10. Just prior to each skip it sounds like a CD player being bumped and if there were moving parts in the iPhone 7 I would expect that to be the case. But as far as I know iPhones are solid state memory.

One thing I do that sometimes works... Try fast-forwarding manually past the point of where the song skips (e.g., if it skips at the 2-minute point, use your finger to scroll the play bar to the 2:30 mark). I usually remove the downloaded song from my phone first, re-download it, then manually fast-forward past the skip point. I've noticed that the skipping often happens when I manually fast-forward the song in the first place, before there's an issue. Super annoying, but I've had much fewer problems with skipping after I stopped manually fast-forwarding songs with the scroll bar.

Recently my iPhone 5s has developed the habit of "skipping" every 2 seconds of a song, but it stays on the same track! It gives it a new track number but keeps the track name and maintains the position in the song. Very frustrating to have each song broken into 2 second fragments!

While music was playing , i pressed and held Home and sleep buttons simultaneously, until screen goes black.

Let go. Wait a few seconds and turn iphone back on normally.

Music played normally thereafter.

I have an iphone 6s+ running IOS 10.2.1

My 6+ started doing this on Sunday but on only when I have my Wireless headphones connected. It will skip continuously like I am too far away from my phone and it's trying to stay connected when in fact my phone is in my hand or right beside me. It also does this on pandora but not on the DIRECTV, cbs or Netflix apps. I thought it was the Bluetooth going bad in the headphones but I exchanged them last night for a set of new pair and they did the same thing today. It did not skip on Spotify. Is my phone going bad?

Stupid problem, made me so angry. Solved it converting my mp3 songs to Apple Lossless and reimporting tracks to phone. In iTunes: File > Convert > Convert to Apple Lossless. If you don't have this option you can change it in Preferences > General > Import Settings > pick format. I have a feeling that it will work with any format as long as iTunes is converting the song, but I only tried converting to Apple Lossless which solved the problem. Hope it helps someone like me, who was going to throw the phone at a wall.

I'm having the same issue as well and no music players from the app store seem to solve this. Music was the main usable function of the iPhone and I can't seem to find a fix to this!

This exact same problem is happening to me as well. First on my iPhone 6 after updating to iOS 10, now on my new iPhone 7 Plus. It has to be iOS 10, not my music library or music. Really surprised I haven't found more about this issue online...

Yes, I updated my iPhone this morning and now all the songs are skipping the end. It hasn't even been 6 hours and I'm regretting updating. Really hope a fix is released very soon. Otherwise, I'll be restoring my phone to one of my backups.

This seems to fix it for me, I was in a playlist with shuffle on and once turned off, it resumed normally. Thanks!

I am also having this same problem. It's really frustrating when I'm out running and songs suddenly skip to the next song or end and then I have to keep pressing shuffle for the music to start again. I could turn shuffle off, but I like not knowing what song comes next. The music app also no longer remembers any edits I have made to songs through iTunes. Hopefully Apple has a fix soon!
